> Hello, I'm

Oskar Holtzendorff

Software Developer, UX Consultant & M.Sc. Student

Studying Media Informatics at the University of Lübeck — focused on Usability/UX-improvements, backend systems, web development, and game engineering.

About Me

OH

I'm a software developer and Master's student in Media Informatics at the University of Lübeck. I enjoy building things — from backendsystems to gamedevelopment

My core interests lie in backend development, game engineering, and expertise about planning and structuring a Development with mediainformatic-specific methods. I love tackling complex problems with clean, well-architected code.

I'm also deeply interested in Usability and UX Design — particularly in conducting structured usability audits that identify friction in real products. Evaluating interfaces systematically, finding where users struggle, and translating those findings into concrete improvements is something I genuinely enjoy and have applied throughout my studies.

Outside of studying and coding, I'm actively involved in the BeuJ youth association, where I maintain and develop their website as a volunteer.

My Approach to AI

I work regularly with ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, and I'm familiar with a range of AI-assisted development tools. That said, I use them deliberately — for tasks outside my core specialisation or to work through bugs faster. The guiding principle is simple: AI should accelerate where it makes sense, not replace the learning that builds real expertise.

Projects

Things I've built

BeuJ Website

Informational website for BeuJ e.V., a self-organised youth association (ages 9–26) rooted in the German youth movement — free, democratic, and cosmopolitan. Maintained as an ongoing volunteer project since January 2024.

Undead Power Struggle

A digital adaptation of the board game Kingdom Builder supporting 2–8 players in a fantasy setting. Built with clean OOP architecture — featuring game save/load, multi-language UI, customisable themes, and a leaderboard system.

Worksheet Tool

Web application enabling educators to create interactive worksheets with text, multiple-choice, and coding tasks. Features PDF export and a modular, reusable task system. Bachelor thesis project with a focus on backend development.

Nice Dice

An interactive dice-rolling application built with React and TypeScript as part of coursework at the University of Lübeck.

Joint Point

A UX/UI prototype created with Axure RP exploring user flows and interaction design concepts, developed at the University of Lübeck.

Battleship (Schiffe versenken)

Classic Battleship game implementation demonstrating game logic design, turn-based mechanics, and interactive UI development, built during early semesters.

Brotdose

A software project developed as part of studies at the University of Lübeck.
